Pitta Soothing Ritual -Navara Kizhi
Navara Kizhi is a specialised treatment that uses soothing herbal oils and milk-soaked rice poultices in a full-body massage. It is known for its anti-inflammatory, cooling, anti-aging and hydrating properties.
The poultices are prepared fresh using a rare variety of red rice known as Navara rice, grown only in Kerala, and when cooked releases medicinal properties. The rice poultices are then soaked in a warmed decoction of milk - for its soothing and moisturising properties and extract of Bala root which is known to support the immune system, soothe the nerves, reduce pain and promote healthy tissue formation.
Although the poultices are warm to touch, the rice, milk and herbal decoction have a cooling quality which has a soothing effect on the deeper tissues. Therefore Navara Kizhi is especially recommended in summer and for people with high Pitta.
